Former Gunner Eze to miss Crystal Palace's match against Arsenal after suffering Achilles injury
Published: May 19, 2021Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson will not be able to count on the services of former Arsenal schoolboy Eberechi Eze when his side face Arsenal at Selhurst Park this evening.
Sky Sports is reporting that the ex-Super Eagles invitee could be out injured until the new year after sustaining an Achilles injury in training.
The England U21 international of Nigerian parentage sustained the injury in Crystal Palace's final workout on Tuesday before the visit of Arsenal.
Eze will be out of action for between six and nine months assuming his rehabilitation goes according to plan.
He is expected to see a specialist on Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury.
The 22-year-old's transfer to Palace from Queens Park Rangers last summer has turned into the fairytale that it promised, with the attacking midfielder impressing in his first season in the Premier League, scoring four times and setting up six goals in 34 top-flight games.
This evening's clash against Arsenal would be the first time he has been omitted from a matchday squad since joining the Eagles.
