Watford, Cardiff City interested in former Nigeria U23 invitee
Published: May 27, 2021Speculations continue to link former Nigeria U23 invitee Osaze Urhoghide with a departure from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer transfer window.
The defender will walk away from the Owls as a free agent if he does not put pen to paper on the new contract offered to him by the demoted Championship club.
According to Football League World, Urhoghide is attracting interest from Premier League new boys Watford, second-tier side Cardiff City as well as two unnamed foreign clubs.
The 20-year-old joined Sheffield Wednesday in 2019 following a successful trial and is credited with 21 appearances for the first team in all competitions.
An interested club will have to pay minimal compensation to sign the center back as he has been at Sheffield Wednesday for only two years.
Urhoghide trained with the Nigeria U23 squad in 2019 before an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
The former AFC Wimbledon youth-teamer also qualifies to represent the Netherlands and England at international level.
