Balogun standing in the way of Arsenal's proposed move for the 'new Zlatan Ibrahimovic'
Published: June 11, 2021Folarin Balogun is among the players reportedly blocking Arsenal's proposed move for Real Sociedad young sensation Alexander Isak, who has been dubbed the 'new Zlatan Ibrahimovic'.
The Daily Express citing the Athletic says the Gunners are unlikely to continue their pursuit of the Sweden international due to the presence of young forwards Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli, and they have offered a new deal to Eddie Nketiah.
The American-Anglo-Nigerian striker looked all set for an exit this summer as his contract with Arsenal was set to expire but he's now tied to the club for another four years having signed a new contract.
Balogun has impressed for Arsenal's youth teams and could be promoted to the first team on a permanent basis before the start of the 2021-2022 campaign, with manager Mikel Arteta set to run the rule over him in pre-season.
In the Europa League, he showed his quality, scoring 2 goals and registering an assist in only 63 minutes of football.
A poacher in the box, Balogun captained Arsenal U23s several times in 2020-2021.
