Confirmed : Ex-Arsenal youngster of Nigerian parentage signs new Sheffield Wednesday deal
Through their official website, EFL League One side Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Nigeria-eligible youngster Joshua Dawodu has put pen to paper on a new contract with the Owls.

The length and financial terms of his new deal have not been disclosed by Sheffield Wednesday.

Dawodu was one of five players of Nigerian descent retained by Sheffield Wednesday for the forthcoming season, the others being ex-Flying Eagles invitees Korede Adedoyin and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and former Nigeria U23 invitees Osaze Urhoghide and Dominic Iorfa.

The 2000-born defender joined Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2017 following his release by Arsenal.

Dawodu played in the same Arsenal U16 team as Nathan Tella, Joseph Olowu and Tobi Omole prior to signing scholarship forms with Sheffield Wednesday.

The 20-year-old was rewarded with his first professional contract in December 2018 after a string of impressive displays for the Owls U18s.

Dawodu has been described as a cultured defender who boasts excellent game understanding and technical qualities.
