Napoli insist most expensive African-born player in history is not for sale amid Tottenham link
Published: June 27, 2021According to Area Napoli citing La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli have no intention of selling Victor Osimhen in the summer transfer window.
The Nigeria international became the most expensive African-born player in history when he moved to The Blues from French side Lille in exchange for €70 million last summer.
Reports in England claim that Tottenham Hotspur are looking at the possibility of signing Osimhen in the event that Three Lions captain Harry Kane, who has been linked with Manchester City, departs north London.
Napoli president De Laurentiis has closed the door on an exit by the Super Eagles star, saying he will reject all bids for his valuable center forward.
And to fend off interested clubs from making an approach for Osimhen, De Laurentiis is prepared to extend his contract by one season with a high release clause of more than €100 million.
Having recovered from a shoulder injury and a coronavirus-related absence, Osimhen was one of Napoli's standout performers in the second half of last season as The Blues put in a strong challenge to qualify for the Champions League but ended up finishing fifth in the table.
Osimhen, who tallied ten goals in his first season in Italy, has four more years left on his current Napoli deal.
