Former Rangers starlet Mebude opens account for Watford first team
Glasgow Rangers academy product Dapo Mebude opened his goalscoring account for Premier League new boys Watford as they defeated Colchester United in two training ground matches on Saturday, July 17.

The Golden Boys announced the capture of the Scotland youth international on a 2+2 year deal nine days ago.

Watford manager Xisco Muñoz has been running the rule over Mebude in pre-season with a view to drafting him into the first team squad in the new season.

Aged 19, the British-Nigerian starlet is eligible to be registered in Watford's squad list for the Premier League as he is classed as an U21 player.

In the first of the 60-minute games at London Colney, Watford beat Colchester United 2-1 with Mebude doubling the advantage in the 17th minute when he sent a cross-shot into the bottom corner.

Watford earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Millwall in their first pre-season friendly and defeated Colchester 2-0 in the second match on Saturday.

Two Nigeria internationals Oghenekaro Etebo and Emmanuel Dennis have made a switch to the Hornets in the summer transfer window.
