Super Eagles winger racing against the clock to be fit for UEFA Super Cup clash vs Chelsea
Villarreal's Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze is racing against the clock to be fit for the UEFA Super Cup clash against Chelsea on Wednesday, August 11, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Chukwueze has reported for pre-season at the Yellow Submarine but is still undergoing individual training, less than two weeks before the Super Cup clash at Windsor Park (Belfast), putting his participation in the game in doubt.

In late May, the exciting winger underwent an operation to fix an injury to his left leg, an ailment that saw him miss the Europa League showpiece versus Manchester United.

The 2015 U17 World Cup winner sustained a muscle injury during the second leg of the Europa League semifinal at Arsenal, only for him to suffer a relapse in the days leading up to the final in Gdansk.

Manager Unai Emery has not been able to count on Chukwueze for all the team's pre-season fixtures so far, against Valencia, Lyon and Levante.

The Europa League winners have not put a time frame on his return to full training

Despite an injury-plagued 2020-2021 campaign, Chukwueze contributed five goals and eight assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
