'He'd be the one to look out for' - Man Utd hero backs Shoretire to break into first team
Published: August 02, 2021Manchester United hero Clayton Blackmore is backing Shola Shoretire to break into the first team of the Red Devils in the not too distant future.
The England youth international has been part of the first team picture since the start of pre-season activities, and has been handed minutes off the bench in all their preparatory games so far, against Derby County, Queens Park Rangers and most recently against Brentford.
Shoretire made headlines last season, making his debut in the Premier League and became United's youngest player in European competitions when he made his Europa League debut against Real Sociedad aged 17 years and 23 days.
Blackmore thinks the Anglo-Nigerian striker is the club's most exciting academy player at the moment.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Blackmore said : "I think at the minute there's only Shola Shoretire who could play a part..
"He's been in around the first team already and played, so when you're looking at players now he'd be the one to look out for.
"With the lads coming through I think you know early on watching them how far they'll go, certainly the players there when I was a coach we predicted where they would end up."

Shoretire has plenty of competitions for a spot in the first team as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can call upon Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial.
