Etebo on target, Troost-Ekong shines, Dennis suffers injury as Watford thrash Doncaster Rovers
Stoke City loanee Oghenekaro Etebo was among the scorers as Watford stepped up their preparations for the upcoming season with a 4-0 rout of League One club Doncaster Rovers in a friendly staged at St. George's Park on Wednesday.

Etebo and Super Eagles teammate William Troost-Ekong started for the Hornets,  Tom Dele-Bashiru played the whole of the second half and Emmanuel Dennis had to be substituted as a precaution in the 57th minute after suffering an injury.

Former Rangers starlet Dapo Mebude, who was promoted to first team training following his move last month,  has been loaned out to AFC Wimbledon for the 2021-2022 campaign, so wasn't involved in the preparatory game against the Reds.

Watford had put the game to bed by the end of the first half thanks to goals from Etebo, Troy Deeney and Dan Gosling.

The Nigeria national teamer broke the deadlock when he rifled a shot into the top corner in the fifth minute - his first goal in Watford's colours.

Watford will face Michel Olise's Crystal Palace in their final pre-season game on Saturday before their Premier League opener against Aston Villa next weekend.

2013 U17 World Cup winner Isaac Success didn't feature for Watford in today's friendly amid speculation linking him with a departure from Vicarage Road before the close of the transfer window.
