Tottenham Hotspur-owned striker of Nigerian descent scores brace on Northampton debut
Northampton Town are through to the second round of the Carabao Cup after an impressive 2-1 road win over Championship outfit Coventry City at Coventry Building Society Arena in the West Midlands on Wednesday night.

Tottenham Hotspur-owned striker Kion Etete, who is spending the whole of this season on loan at Northampton, was the hero for the visitors after scoring a brace on his competitive debut for the Cobblers.

The Anglo-Nigerian teenager was an unused substitute against Port Vale on the opening day of the League 2 before making the starting lineup in yesterday's clash with the Sky Blues.

Tyler Walker opened the scoring for the home team in the 13th minute, firing home from close range.

Etete got the Cobblers back on level terms with an acrobatic effort on the half volley in the 52nd minute and netted what proved to be the winning goal in the 70th minute.

Left-back Ali Koiki made his starting debut for Northampton and Coventry City's Nigeria underage international Bright Enobakhare was in action for 63 minutes.

Northampton Town have been drawn at home to AFC Wimbledon in the second round of the Carabao Cup.
