Nigeria-eligible defender comes off bench to score first competitive goal for Chelsea Youth
Chelsea U18s made it two wins in as many games with a comprehensive 7-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in an U18 Premier League fixture at Hotspur Way on Saturday afternoon.

First year scholar Richard Olise, younger brother of Super Eagles invitee and Crystal Palace midfielder Michael Olise started for the visitors, and Derrick Abu was initially named on the bench.

The Blues led 4-2 with fifteen minutes remaining courtesy of goals from Ronnie Stutter, Jimi Tauriainen and Lewis Hall (2) , while  Donley and Roshaun Mathurin got on the scoresheet for the home team.

Chelsea scored three more goals in the closing minutes, Malik Mothersille rounded the goalkeeper to slot home in the 78th minute before Abu, off the bench in the 82nd minute, made it 6-2.

Five minutes from time, the Nigeria-eligible fullback scored the pick of the bunch with a brilliant shot from distance, before Andersson completed the scoring in the 89th minute.

Abu's fine strike today was his first competitive goal for Chelsea's youth teams and it came in his thirteenth appearance in the U18 Premier League since debuting in the division against Crystal Palace in October 2020.

Born in Regensburg, Abu is also eligible to represent the national teams of England and Germany.
