Insider reveals secret of Super Eagles striker's loan move to Dutch giants Feyenoord
Feyenoord insider Martijn Krabbendam has revealed that Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers wasn't Feyenoord's first choice to strengthen the attack in the recently concluded summer transfer window.

Feyenoord only turned their attention to the Racing Genk-owned player after failing to land their primary target, Club Brugge's former Netherlands international Bas Dost.

Dessers was heavily linked with a transfer to Spanish second-tier club CD Leganes before making a under-the-radar loan transfer to Feyenoord on deadline day.

The one-cap Nigeria international was angling for a move in search of playing opportunities after the signing of Ike Ugbo from Chelsea saw him fall further down the pecking order of strikers at Racing Genk.

"Feyenoord did try to attract Bas Dost, but that did not work. They also tried with other strikers, but the deadline was approaching.

"Then they fell back on Cyriel Dessers, who did not succeed at FC Utrecht and KRC Genk. Or is he the level that Feyenoord is aiming for? I don't think so," Martijn Krabbendam sad to Veronica Inside (via VoetbalNieuws).

Feyenoord reportedly negotiated a purchase clause of four million euros in the deal bringing Dessers to the Rotterdam club.
