Delta State Governor appoints ex-Super Eagles star Sodje Special Assistant on Sports
The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has appointed retired Nigeria international Sam Sodje as his Special Assistant on Sport, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.

The appointment which is at the instance of the governor is with effect from September 23, 2021.

Sodje will work with the Sports Commissioner and will technically handle football in the state.

Prior to his appointment, the central defender during his playing days was Head of Technical/Youth Development at the Delta State Football Association (DFA).

Sodje has been very active in trying to push sports in Delta State especially in the area of youth development, players' welfare and education for Life After Sports.

London-born Sodje has a HE Diploma on Gas Maintenance and Installation, United Kingdom.

In a playing career spanning close to two decades, he wore the colours of Brentford, Reading, West Brom, Charlton Athletic, Watford and Leeds United among others.
