Team of the Week honours for Glasgow Rangers duo, Genk's Onuachu and Sutton Utd's Ajiboye
Published: September 27, 2021Four Nigerian players have been included in the Team of the Week for their respective leagues by football statistics website Whoscored following their outstanding performance in the last round of matches.
Glasgow Rangers duo Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey have been named in the Scottish Premiership Team of the Week after helping the champions see off Dundee.
Aribo netted what proved to be the winning goal against Dundee, lifting the ball over goalkeeper Adam Legzdins to break the deadlock after a delightful pass from Alfredo Morelos in the seventeenth minute.
Against Dundee, the Super Eagles playmaker won a joint team-high five aerial duels, completed two take-ons, made a team-high three tackles, one interception and two clearances, and was accurate in 82.2 percent of his passes.
Left-back Bassey made a game-high four key passes, won three aerial duels, was the most fouled player (3) and completed 80.7 percent of his passes.
Onuachu tallied his fifth career hat-trick as Racing Genk thrashed RFC Seraing 3-0, taking his tally for the season to 11 goals from 12 appearances.
The Super Eagles striker registered a game-high five shots with four on target, was the most fouled Racing Genk player (3) and had a passing accuracy of 82.1 percent.
In a 4-4-2 formation, Onuachu is partnered in attack by Oostende's Gueye in the Pro League Team of the Week.
Sutton United star David Ajiboye was deployed as the right-sided midfielder in the EFL League Two Team of the Week.
Ajiboye wrapped up the scoring as Sutton United thrashed Carlisle United 4-0 at VBS Community Stadium.
The former Brighton youth teamer had the most shots on target (3), completed the most dribbles (3) and touched the ball 36 times.
