Will Chukwueze play against Man Utd? Villarreal boss has an update on Super Eagles star
Published: September 28, 2021Villarreal coach Unai Emery faced the cameras on Tuesday afternoon before his side's Champions League clash against Manchester United and provided an update on the fitness of his squad during the media briefing.
As envisaged, the former Arsenal manager has confirmed that he will not be able to count on the services of Nigeria international Samuel Chukwueze.
Although the right winger was involved in Tuesday's training session at the Miralcamp sports facilities, the last workout before the trip to Manchester, the game against the Premier League giants has come too soon for him, meaning he is not in the picture to make his Champions League debut on Wednesday.
The Super Eagles star has not yet been given the green light by Villarreal's
medical team.
In quotes relayed by Futbol Fantasy, Emery said : "The absentees are added that of Coquelin, who is suspended. The rest are those of the other day: Chukwueze, Raba and Gerard.
"So, I think that in the group we have different alternatives and options to start with eleven and make the changes. Let's use all resources with maximum confidence".
Chukwueze has not figured for the Yellow Submarine since suffering an injury in the first half of the Europa League semifinal clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium back in May.
