Arsenal first-team training : Nigerian-born midfielder rubs shoulders with Jack Wilshere
Published: October 07, 2021Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta invited Nigerian-born midfielder Tim Akinola to train with the first team on Thursday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Gunners via their official website have published training images of today's workout held at London Colney and Akinola is confirmed to have taken part in the session as expected.
With several first team players away on international duty with their respective nations, it was a foregone conclusion that the Anglo-Nigerian starlet was to be promoted to first-team training.
Akinola trained alongside Arsenal old boy Jack Wilshere, who is keeping fit with the club as he prepares for his coaching badges.
The former Huddersfield Town starlet was a non-playing substitute on Wednesday evening as Arsenal's development squad were forced to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth in a Premier League Cup clash at the Vitality Stadium.
Arsenal U23 boss Kevin Betsy opted to rest Akinola in order to give game time to some fringe players in his squad.
The 20-year-old has been involved in the last four matches contested by the Gunners in the Premier League 2, helping them register three wins and pick up a draw.
Akinola made his non-competitive debut for Arsenal's first team in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford last month.
