Aston Villa keen to offer new deal to Nigeria-eligible midfielder to ward off interest
Published: October 21, 2021English Premier League club Aston Villa are keen to offer a new deal to Nigeria-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka in their attempt to ward off interest from clubs, according to reports.
The Express and Star says The Lions are working to extend the long-term future of academy graduate Chukwuemeka.
The Austrian-born starlet signed his first professional contract in 2020 until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
After turning eighteen on Wednesday, he is now eligible to sign a new multi-year deal for a period of five years.
Chukwuemeka was a key member of the Aston Villa side that won the FA Youth Cup last season, finishing as the competition's top scorer with seven goals.
His rise at Aston Villa has been rapid, making his debuts in the Premier League and Carabao Cup before the age of 18.
Chukwuemeka has tasted action against the first team of Chelsea twice, Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford and Barrow.
