'Chelsea not the best for him' - Napoli icon backs Osimhen to be as influential as Lukaku at Inter
Published: October 29, 2021Legendary Napoli and Bologna striker Giuseppe Savoldi believes Victor Osimhen can be as influential as Romelu Lukaku was at Inter Milan under the tutelage of manager Antonio Conte.
Lukaku has not really hit the heights expected of him since his big money move from Inter Milan to Chelsea in the summer transfer window, firing blanks in each of his last seven matches prior to his spell on the sidelines, whereas the Belgian mustered 64 goals in 95 games under the stewardship of Conte.
Savoldi is backing Osimhen to pull the same weight as Lukaku did at Inter Milan, provided that the Nigerian is properly utilized by manager Spalletti, adding that the Belgian national teamer does not fit into Chelsea's system.
"For the context in which he plays yes, but Lukaku was in Inter and Conte's game was the best for him, the team's predisposition towards him was total," Savoldi said to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908.
"For example: Chelsea today is not the best for him. Lukaku is one of those excellent players who has become superlative thanks to the system-Inter.
"Osimhen, at Napoli, can become one, but it depends on how Spalletti facilitates him: I don't like him, I don't like him as a person, but as a coach he has good ideas and there is no doubt that this year Osimhen is grown up."
To the advantage of the Super Eagles ahead of upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifying matches against Liberia and Cape Verde, Osimhen has been in red-hot form for Napoli this season, scoring nine goals in twelve appearances across all competitions.
