Super Eagles target makes long-awaited return to competitive football for Crystal Palace U23s
Published: November 01, 2021Super Eagles target Eberechi Eze has made his long-awaited return to competitive football after more than five months on the sidelines.
The former England U21 international was named in the starting lineup as Crystal Palace suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Blackburn Rovers in a Premier League 2 match staged at Crystal Palace Training Ground on Monday, November 1.
Eze sustained an Achilles injury in
training at the back end of the 2020-2021 season and the initial
prognosis after his surgery had suggested that he could be out of action
until 2022.
But the attacking midfielder has made a swift recovery and has started full training with the first team ahead of a potential season debut in the coming weeks.
Against Blackburn Rovers, Eze was in action for 62 minutes as he works his way back to full match fitness.
Following a goalless first half, Saadi tapped in at the far post to break the deadlock in the 50th minute, Kirby restored parity for the Eagles but the visitors collected all three points thanks to Butterworth's volleyed finish four minutes from time.
Left back Tayo Adaramola and striker David Omilabu started for Palace against Blackburn Rovers.
