Talented striker of Nigerian descent scores his first goal for Chelsea U18s on full debut
Talented striker of Nigerian descent Tudor Mendel-Idowu scored his first goal for Chelsea U18s on his starting debut as the Blues left it late to seal a 4-3 win over Crystal Palace in the U18 Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Mendel-Idowu was joined in Chelsea's starting lineup by 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Prince Adegoke, defender Richard Olise and striker Louis Flower.

Goalkeeper Owen Goodman, midfielder David Ozoh, winger Ademola Ola-Adebomi and striker Victor Akinwale were named in Palace's starting XI.

The Eagles found themselves two goals down after 32 minutes as Leo Castledine and Mendel-Idowu netted for Chelsea.

The 2006-born Anglo-Nigerian, a first-year scholar, doubled the advantage when he fired home from the edge of the box.

But Palace halved the deficit as Ola-Adebomi rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into the net in the 41st minute only for Edwin Andersson to restore the two-goal lead in stoppage time.

The Eagles mounted a comeback in the second half as Akinwale celebrated his maiden call-up to England U18s by grabbing a brace but they were denied a share of the spoils after Malik Mothersille netted the game-winning goal in the 96th minute.
