Switzerland's plan to cap-tie Salzburg teenager eligible for Nigeria, USA, DRC goes up in smoke
The plan of the Swiss Football Association to cap-tie Red Bull Salzburg teenager Bryan Okoh has gone up in smoke.

The 18-year-old was handed a maiden call-up to Switzerland's senior national team for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Bulgaria.

Okoh was surprisingly invited to the Switzerland squad without a single top-flight appearance to his name but he is teammates with ex-Golden Eaglets skipper Samson Tijani at Salzburg's reserve team FC Liefering in the Austrian 2.Liga.

The Swiss Football Association informed via their official website on Sunday that Okoh will not be available for selection against Bulgaria after the central defender suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in his right knee in the final training session in Rome on Friday without any external influence.

Okoh has returned to his club Red Bull Salzburg for further medical treatment, the press release added.

Born in Houston, Texas, the promising center-back is also eligible for the Super Eagles through his father and Democratic Republic of Congo through his mother, as well as the United States of America.

Swiss newspaper 20 Minuten suggested that manager Murat Yakin planned to hand a senior debut to Okoh in tomorrow's match against Bulgaria.

The American-Swiss-Nigerian-Congolese starlet has caps for Switzerland U15, U16, U17 and U21 national teams.
