'If you blink he'll punish you' - Eguavoen excited by 19-cap Nigeria international striker
Published: December 20, 2021Interim Super Eagles manager Augustine Eguavoen has admitted that he's excited by 19-cap Nigeria international Victor Osimhen.
The Napoli striker is racing against the clock to be fit for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon though there is significant progress in his recovery after undergoing surgery last month.
Osimhen has demonstrated his goalscoring ability since he started playing for Nigeria's national teams, finishing the 2015 U17 World Cup with ten goals - a record for most goals scored in a single tournament.
The former Lille and Sporting Charleroi star is not only a goalscorer for the national team but a great provider of assists as well, setting up his teammates six times during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Eguavoen underlined that one of Osimhen's traits that would be useful to the Super Eagles is his ability to put pressure on defenders.
Speaking to ATHLST, Eguavoen stated : "When I see Osimhen he reminds me of strikers who can keep you on your toes as a defender the entire ninety minutes.
"If you blink he will punish you so I think Osimhen is one player that really excites me when it comes to attacking."

Osimhen has started training with a provisional mask ahead of a possible return to action sometime next month.
