Super Eagles star Onyekuru reveals his best position; his personal target AFCON 2021
Olympiakos star Henry Onyekuru has revealed his best position on the pitch ahead of Nigeria's opening match against Egypt at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Everton loanee profited from the withdrawal of strikers Emmanuel Dennis and Victor Osimhen from the AFCON squad, with interim boss Augustine Eguavoen naming him on the finalized roster for the ongoing tournament in Cameroon.

Capable of playing a variety of roles in the final third including left and right winger, center forward and support striker, Onyekuru has made it clear that he is at his best when playing as a left winger.

Going by the training sessions before Nigeria's opener, the 24-year-old is behind Taiwo Awoniyi and Umar Sadiq in Eguavoen's pecking order of center forwards, while he is behind Ahmed Musa, Chidera Ejuke and Samuel Chukwueze for the winger role.

Onyekuru has vowed to give his best if called upon by Eguavoen during the Africa Cup of Nations.

"My personal target is to help the team, it doesn't matter if I'm starting or not - on the bench or in the first eleven," Onyekuru said to MTN Nigeria's We Move With Super Eagles.

"When I'm inside I'll give one hundred percent and try to support the players in the starting lineup. We play, work together.

"Left winger, that's my position."

Onyekuru was a fringe player in the Super Eagles squad that won the bronze medal at AFCON 2019, coming off the bench for the last 12 minutes against Algeria in the semifinal.
