Osimhen names three Super Eagles players who impressed him the most vs Guinea-Bissau
Published: January 19, 2022Victor Osimhen has namechecked the three Super Eagles players who impressed him the most during the 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations clash on Wednesday night.
The Napoli striker was originally included in the Super Eagles squad list for the ongoing tournament in Cameroon but was forced to withdraw from the roster due to a combination of Covid-19, rehabbing from cheekbone surgery and non-release by his European club.
Nigeria underlined their title credentials by finishing Group D of the AFCON with maximum nine points from three matches, scoring six goals without conceding from open play.
And in doing so the Augustine Eguavoen-led side are the only team to have won all their three matches in the group phase.
Almeria striker Umar Sadiq finished off a pass from Kelechi Iheanacho to break the deadlock in the 56th minute after a counter attacking move and William Troost-Ekong tapped in the rebound after Moses Simon's shot hit the woodwork at minute 75.
Osimhen was impressed with the whole team and among the players singled out for special praise were Simon, Iheanacho and Ndidi.
Writing on Twitter, the 2015 U17 World Cup Golden Boot winner stated : "Brilliant Performance From The Whole Squad!Special Mentions @Simon27Moses, @Ndidi25, @67Kelechi".
The Super Eagles will meet the third placed team in Group E or F in a round of sixteen clash on Sunday, January 23.
