Al Hilal sign former Manchester United striker Ighalo for fee of N2.7billion; transfer confirmed
Published: January 29, 2022Saudi Professional Football League club Al Hilal have announced the signing of former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo on undisclosed terms.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Nigeria international ended his association with Al-Shabab after signing a one-and-a-half-year deal with Al Hilal.
This website can exclusively report with certainty that Al-Shabab agreed to terminate their contract with Ighalo after accepting a bid of 25 million Saudi Riyal (equivalent of 5.9 million euros or N2.7billion in Nigerian currency).
The experienced attacker departs Al-Shabab after scoring 21 goals in 31 appearances in the Saudi Arabian top-flight.
Ighalo's last match for Al-Shabab was against Al-Fateh on January 20 and he signed off in style, netting his 12th goal of the season in the 66th minute.
The 32-year-old,a product of Julius Berger, began his career in Europe with Norwegian side Lyn followed by spells at Udinese, Granada, Watford, Changchun Yatai and Shanghai Shenhua before returning to England to join Manchester United on loan in January 2020.
Ighalo contributed to the success of the Super Eagles finishing third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations by scoring five goals to win the Golden Boot award.
