2019 Golden Eaglets captain added to Red Bull Salzburg Champions League roster
Published: February 03, 2022Former Golden Eaglets captain Samson Tijani is the 'surprise candidate' added to the Red Bull Salzburg roster for the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League, informs the official website of the Austrian Bundesliga champions.
Red Bull Salzburg have been paired with one of the favourites for the title, Bayern Munich in the last sixteen with the first leg coming up on February 16.
Tijani is one of the three new players added to Red Bull Salzburg's roster, the others being Ignace Van der Brempt and Sekou Koita.
Swiss-American-Nigerian defender Bryan Okoh has been left out of the squad list as he is still recovering from a long-term injury he suffered while on international duty with Switzerland.
Tijani has been promoted to the first team for the Champions League after impressing manager Matthias Jaissle during preparations.
Should he make his European debut against Bayern Munich, the Super Eagles midfielder will be wearing the number 44 at the back of his jersey.
Tijani was loaned out to TSV Hartberg for the whole of last season and spent the first half of the campaign as a cooperation player at FC Liefering, for whom he made eight appearances in the 2.Liga,
