Ex-Golden Eaglets captain makes competitive debut for Red Bull Salzburg
Former Golden Eaglets captain Samson Tijani made his competitive debut for Red Bull Salzburg as a second half substitute in their 3-1 victory against LASK in an OFB Cup clash at the Red Bull Arena on Sunday evening.

One of the stars of the Golden Eaglets squad to the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup, Tijani was brought on in the 89th minute to replace Nicolás Capaldo., wearing the number 44 at the back of his jersey.

The central midfielder was loaned out to TSV Hartberg for the entirety of the 2019-2020 season and spent the first half of this season as a cooperation player at FC Liefering.

Manager Matthias Jaissle rewarded Tijani with a first call-up to Red Bull Salzburg's senior team after making a good impression in the winter preparation period.

Nigerians and Red Bull Salzburg fans will have to wait to see if the Collins Edwin Sports Club product will make his Champions League debut in a round of sixteen first leg clash against Bayern Munich on February 16 having been registered for the knockout rounds of the competition.

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Tijani is still registered with FC Liefering and it's up to him to impress the first team manager to earn a permanent promotion to the senior squad.

The 19-year-old has now made 27 all-competition appearances in Austrian football since turning professional in 2020.
