GvB provides injury update on Balogun that will delight Rangers and Super Eagles fans
Rangers coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst provided an injury update with regards to Leon Balogun at Friday's press conference ahead of his side's Scottish FA cup clash against Annan Athletic.

The latest update from Van Bronckhorst will be sweet music to the ears of Rangers and Super Eagles fans, with the Dutchman revealing that the injury suffered by Balogun is not as bad as first thought.

The Nigeria international was replaced after fifteen minutes due to an undisclosed ailment as the Light Blues defeated Hibernian on Wednesday

Balogun returned to action three weeks ago after sustaining a back injury that kept him on the sidelines for two months and saw him pull out of the Nigeria squad to the Africa Cup of Nations.

After his comeback against Stirling Albion, he suffered a setback, missing the next two matches played by Rangers in the Premiership before he was passed fit for the derby against Celtic.

"Leon had a scan which was very positive, the injury isn't bad so hopefully he can return soon to join the team in training," Van Bronckhorst told reporters.

Balogun has few months to make his case for a contract extension as his deal with the Scottish champions runs out at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old has made four appearances under Van Bronckhorst who was appointed to replace Steven Gerrard last November.
