Super Eagles striker scores one of the goals of the season in Almeria's win vs CD Mirandes
Published: February 21, 2022Almeria consolidated their second position in the LaLiga 2 table with a 2-1 win over CD Mirandés at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos on Sunday night courtesy of Umar Sadiq's three-minute brace in the second half.
In a very entertaining first half action, both teams headed into the interval with the scoreboard reading goalless.
Almeria had several excellent chances in the first half to break the deadlock but were let down by poor finishing.
Midway through the second half, Sadiq scored one of the goals of the season with a spectacular strike from distance and he dedicated the goal to Juanjo Nieto, who is out for the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament against Malaga.
The Nigeria international doubled the advantage with a delicate chip over Raúl Lizoáin after the CD Mirandés goalkeeper made a horrible pass to a teammate.
Nine minutes into stoppage time, Sergio Camello converted a spot kick to pull a goal back but there was no time for anything else.
Sadiq has scored in each of his last three league matches for Almeria, taking his tally to 12 in 2021-2022.
