Nigeria handed boost pre-Ghana as Balogun returns to action for Rangers in bounce game
Nigeria and Rangers have been handed a boost ahead of their upcoming fixtures as Leon Balogun has returned to action.

The central defender played the entirety of the first half for the Light Blues as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Brentford in a bounce game staged at Auchenhowie on Monday afternoon.

Balogun hadn't featured in a competitive game for twelve days, since Rangers' 2-0 home win against Hibernian on February 9 when he played for fifteen minutes before he was forced off injured.

The injury sustained against Hibernian happened just a couple of weeks after returning to action following a back issue that kept him sidelined for two months.

It remains to be seen whether Balogun is named in the matchday squad by manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst for the glamour Europa League knockout round playoff tie with Borussia Dortmund this coming Thursday at Ibrox.

Nigeria's interim coach Augustine Eguavoen will be monitoring the fitness of the Rangers ace ahead of his squad announcement for the 2022 World Cup playoff matches with regional rivals Ghana.

Another Nigeria international Frank Onyeka went the distance for the Bees in today's friendly against the Scottish champions.
