Slavia Prague's Nigeria youth international misses out on UECL POTW to Leicester star
Published: February 25, 2022Slavia Prague's Nigeria youth international Yira Collins Sor has missed out on the UEFA Europa Conference League Player of the Week with Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison named the most outstanding player of the playoffs, second leg.
The two other players shortlisted for the POTW were Eli Dasa (Vitesse) and Ola Solbakken (Bodo/Glimt) who finished in third and fourth place respectively with Sor coming second.
The 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup star has lived up to his billing as one of the exciting young talents on the books of a Czech club since landing at Slavia Prague in the January transfer window.
Sor provided an assist on his Europa Conference League debut against Fenerbahce in the first leg and was the star of the show in the second leg on Thursday night with two goals against the Turkish giants in a 3-2 win.
The former Flying Eagles striker doubled the advantage when he shot at the far post and scored with the ball rebounding off the goal post in the 27th minute and grabbed his brace at minute 63 with a shot below the crossbar.
Slavia Prague will face LASK Linz in the last sixteen of the Europa Conference League with the first leg to be played at home on Thursday, March 10 and the second leg takes place in Austria a week later.
