Women's FA Cup : Leicester City without ill Nigeria defender taught a lesson by Chelsea
Published: February 27, 2022Leicester City have crashed out of the Vitality Women's FA Cup after losing 7-0 to Chelsea at Kingsmeadow on Saturday afternoon.
The Foxes were without newly-capped Nigeria international Ashleigh Plumptre who was unavailable for selection due to illness following her recent trip to Africa.
Plumptre started the two games played by the Super Falcons in their 2022 AWCON qualifiers with Ivory Coast.
The former England youth international should be ready for next weekend's big clash against Manchester United in the Women's Super League.
She helped Leicester City reach the quarterfinals of the Women's FA Cup, starring in a 3-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur and capped off a fine performance by providing the assist for her team's second goal.
Pernille Harder (2), Sam Kerr (2), Ji So-Yun, Aniek Nouwen and Bethany EnglandĀ provided the goals for the side coached by the respected Emma Hayes.
Plumptre was nominated for the Women's Super League Player of the Month for February 2022.
