Manchester United's Nigeria-eligible winger nominated for Premier League 2 POTM
Published: March 08, 2022Shola Shoretire has been nominated for February's Premier League 2 Player of the Month award on the back of his excellent form for Manchester United's development squad.
The winger either scored or assisted in his three appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League 2 in February.
The Anglo-Nigerian bagged two assists in a 3-1 win over West Brom on February 5 and fifteen days later netted his third assist of the month vs Palace before getting on the scoresheet in a 5-2 rout of Derby County.
Shoretire has directly participated in 16 goals (8 goals, 8 assists) from 23 matches for United youth teams so far in 2021-2022 as well as making his Champions League debut against BSC Young Boys back in December.
The 18-year-old is batting six other youngsters for the monthly accolade including Fulham's Luke Harris and Sonny Hilton, Manchester City's Juan Larios and James McAtee, Southampton's Luke Pearce and Crystal Palace's Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
The shortlist was chosen by the Premier League Football Development Panel after PL2 club coaches nominated the best performance by an opposing player in each of their league matches during the month.
Aston Villa's Caleb Chukwuemeka and Arsenal-owned striker Folarin Balogun won the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for September and November respectively.
