2009 U20 World Cup winner Inkoom makes himself available for Ghana selection vs Nigeria
Published: March 12, 20222009 U20 World Cup-winning defender with the Black Satellites, Samuel Inkoom has made himself available for Ghana selection ahead of two crucial matches against Nigeria later this month.
The 32-year-old has 44 caps for Ghana, the last of which he earned approximately four years ago.
Inkoom has been inactive for three months following his departure from Georgian top-flight side Torpedo Kutaisi.
The right-back was in the last Ghana squad to beat Nigeria, going the distance in a 1-0 win at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
Inkoom fancies the Black Stars chances of securing qualification for the 2022 World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.
In quotes relayed by Ghanasoccernet citing Starr FM, Inkoom said : "I haven't shut the door for a Black Stars call up.
"I am still available for Ghana anytime the coach needs me but not for the Nigeria game because I’m not with any club now.
"It is a big yes. Ghana and Nigeria is not about form. The players need to be disciplined on the pitch. We can't afford to miss Qatar."
Ghana will entertain Nigeria at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday, March 25, starting from 2030 hours and the return match will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, starting from 1800 hours.
