Arsenal-reared duo Ogungbo, Okoflex among 4 Nigeria-eligible players in latest Ireland U20 squad
Published: March 13, 2022Through their official website, the Football Association of Ireland have announced the Republic of Ireland U20 roster for their friendly against an Ireland Amateur selection on Tuesday, March 22 at Home Farm FC, Dublin.
Four Nigeria-eligible players have made the cut namely Arsenal's Hale End Academy products Mazeed Ogungbo and Armstrong Okoflex, Brentford winger Deji Sotona and St. Patrick's Athletic goalkeeper David Odumosu.
Ireland U21 manager Jim Crawford has confirmed that some of the U20 invitees will train with the U21s before their U21 EURO qualifier against Sweden on March 29.
Okoflex and Odumosu previously earned invites to the Republic of Ireland U21 squad but have no competitive caps for the age group.
Former Manchester City youth teamer Sobowale has caps for Ireland at U17, U18 and U19 levels.
Manchester United academy product Sotona is back in international favour after sealing a return to England to link up with Brentford, on loan from OGC Nice in France.
Festy Ebosele (Derby County), Joshua Kayode (Rotherham United) and Mipo Odubeko (West Ham United) are age-eligible to be named in the Republic of Ireland U21 squad set to be announced on Tuesday.
