Super Falcons star looks set to miss Arsenal clash after confirmed update from Leicester boss Bedford
Published: April 01, 2022Super Falcons central defender Ashleigh Plumptre looks set to miss out on Leicester City's matchday squad when they battle Arsenal in the Women's Super League on Sunday, April 3.
Plumptre was replaced after thirty minutes as the Foxes were hammered
9-0 by Chelsea on Sunday after suffering a head-related injury.
Ahead of the visit of the north London club to the King Power Stadium, Leicester Women boss Lydia Bedford confirmed during her pre-match briefing on Thursday afternoon that the Nigeria national teamer has not trained all week, putting her participation in doubt.
In quotes relayed by the official website of the Foxes, Bedford stated : "Injury wise, we are still struggling a little bit from the weekend.
"Obviously we had Ash [Plumptre] and Molly [Pike] come off the pitch during the game due to various injuries and at this stage neither have returned back to training."
It remains to be seen whether Plumptre will be summoned for the upcoming doubleheader against Canada this month, with the first match coming up on April 8 in Vancouver.
The 23-year-old has made sixteen starts in this season's Women's Super League and was on the scoresheet against West Ham United on February 13.
