'I like Osimhen a lot' - Former Egypt coach highlights attributes of Napoli striker
Published: April 21, 2022Former Egypt national team coach Ruud Krol has highlighted the attributes of Victor Osimhen and disputed suggestions that the Nigeria international is at his best when his team is on the counter-attack.
Osimhen has impressed the season, scoring sixteen goals in all competitions for Napoli despite the fact he often plays as a lone striker.
What he lacks in flair, the Napoli number 9 makes up for in physicality, athletic prowess, pace, shooting and aerial ability.
Krol believes that Osimhen would be scoring more goals if he was paired with another center forward, which former Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr planned to do when he convinced Odion Ighalo to reverse his decision to quit international football.
In quotes related by 100x100napoli citing Gazzetta dello Sport, Krol said : "I like Spalletti's football. Napoli played very well at the start of the season, they were spectacular, but now they don't look like the same team.
"For example, I like Osimhen a lot but, in my opinion, anyone who thinks he is a counter-attacker is wrong. He is very strong in the head and faster than everyone in the area.
"If he played with another striker next to him, I'm sure he would score more".
Osimhen has featured in 27 matches for Napoli this season, starting in twenty-two of them and coming off the bench five times.
