Eagles watch : Simon wins third major trophy in Europe; Ighalo, Sanusi, Sadiq score very late goals
Published: May 08, 2022Three Nigeria internationals Odion Ighalo, Zaidu Sanusi and Umar Sadiq wrote their names on the scoresheet in league matches on Saturday, May 7, 2022.
2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer Odion Ighalo continued his outstanding season by scoring and providing an assist as Al Hilal came from behind to thrash Damac FC 4-2 in a Saudi Pro League match at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium.
Musab Fahz Al-Juwayr made it 1-1 in the 36th minute after he was set up by the Nigeria international.
When Ighalo headed the ball into the net in the second minute of stoppage time, it meant he has now scored and assisted in the same game on three different occasions this season.
In the LaLiga SmartBank, Almeria are topping the provisional standings following a 3-0 rout of SD Amorebieta at Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos.
Sadiq made up for his penalty miss when he rounded the goalkeeper and rolled the ball into an empty net at minute 89, wrapping up the scoring in the process.
Zaidu Sanusi scored probably the most important goal of his career as FC Porto secured a 1-0 win over SL Benfica in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

In the fourth minute of stoppage time, the left-back finished off a counter attacking move with a half volley to hand Porto all three points, and his strike secured Porto the title with a game to spare.
Elsewhere, Moses Simon won his third major trophy since moving to Europe as Nantes lifted the Coupe de France by beating OGC Nice 1-0, a game in which the winger started and was in action for 73 minutes.
Simon won the Belgian Pro League and Belgian Super Cup in his first year as a player of Gent, in 2015.
