Battle is firmly on for Victor Osimhen
Published: May 20, 2022Talk of Nigerian international Victor Osimhen moving to the English Premier League has been in place for some time. However, as the European season draws to a close, the rumours have intensified.
The Napoli striker enjoyed a productive start to the campaign in Serie A and, while his goals to games ratio tailed off, the 23-year-old remains a hot prospect. A number of teams appear to be in the frame but, according to the media, Manchester United and Newcastle United offer the most likely destinations.
Newcastle Resurgent
After a difficult start to the season put the team inside the relegation zone, Newcastle United changed their fortunes after new owners arrived at St James’s Park. The Magpies also changed their manager with former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe replacing the outgoing Steve Bruce.
After pulling off some shrewd transfer deals in January, Newcastle soared out of trouble and into a mid-table position. They will be targeting better things next season but the club is in need of striking reinforcements.
With a player of Victor Osimhen’s quality in their ranks, Newcastle United will be targeting a Top Four finish that would put them in the Champions League places. It’s a bold target but the sports betting companies will give the Magpies a chance.
Top football sportsbooks affiliated with Sbo.net will publish a top four market and this is the place to follow Newcastle’s progress from a betting perspective. Once the new season gets underway, that market will become busier, and more bookmakers will reveal their odds.
Sbo.net will inform site visitors of any updates while publishing relevant information such as breaking news and opinion articles. There’s lots of information and it may be possible to put it to good use.
Any sports betting company mentioned on those pages is ready to accept new customers. In return for a completed registration form, many also have generous welcome packages in place. In order to get the account moving, a range of deposit methods can add the necessary funds.
Once confirmed as a customer, other benefits may include in-play markets, the option to bet via a mobile device and the possibility of live streaming football matches.
It’s the perfect betting partner for the sport but Newcastle United are not the only club chasing Victor Osimhen.
Manchester United Rebuilding
Manchester United will welcome a new manager in the close season. Former Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag will leave the Netherlands to take over the hot seat at Old Trafford. With Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial having departed in recent years, United are another club with a need for a new striker.
Much could depend on the future of other players, both inside and outside of the club. There has been a question mark over Cristiano Ronaldo, although the prolific Portuguese international has now hinted that he will be staying with the Red Devils.
Manchester United have also been linked with Paulo Dybala, an attacking teammate of Ronaldo’s when he was with Juventus. If those two were to link up again, there may be less room for a youngster such as Osimhen to slot in.
What They’ll Be Getting
Other European clubs have been mentioned in connection with a close season move for Victor Osimhen. Barcelona were previously linked before the striker joined Lille in 2019. The La Liga giants are always in the market for top attacking talent so could they come back in?
Whoever does land his signature will be acquiring the services of one of the most exciting young players in world football. Osimhen started the season in sparkling form as Napoli soared to the top of the Serie A table in the early stages.
His ratio dropped off as the season developed but a return of 28 goals in 61 matches across all competitions is still a respectable one. He may, of course, stay with his current club but a well-publicised dispute over fitness makes that seem unlikely.
He’s still only 23 and has plenty of time to develop and become one of the most potent centre forwards in the game. Goals are his business and Victor Osimhen promises to deliver for a new club across the 2022/23 campaign.
