Rangers target move for former Chelsea schoolboy of Nigerian descent if Ryan Kent departs
Published: May 23, 2022Scottish Cup winners Rangers are reportedly targeting a move for former Chelsea schoolboy of Nigerian descent Dapo Afolayan if Ryan Kent departs the Ibrox Stadium in the summer.
Afolayan, who spent seven years at the Chelsea academy before moving to Canada, has emerged as a transfer target for several top-flight clubs in the United Kingdom on the back of an outstanding season, in which he was involved in 21 goals (14 goals, 7 assists) in 51 all-competition appearances for Bolton Wanderers.
It was reported last week that the Anglo-Nigerian winger was on the radar of the Scottish Premiership giants.
According to a new update from journalist Alan Nixon, the Light Blues are lining up Afolayan to replace in-demand winger Kent, who is attracting huge interest from clubs in the Premier League.

Rangers face competition to sign Afolayan as Cardiff City and Premier League new boys Fulham are also on his trail, having monitored him in the recently concluded season.
The 24-year-old has two years to run on his contract with Bolton Wanderers, whom he joined on a permanent deal from West Ham United at the end of the 2020-2021 campaign.
Apart from Bolton, he enjoyed loan spells at Oldham Athletic and Mansfield Town during his three-year association with the Hammers.
