Super Eagles camp update : Feyenoord's history-making striker trains with team pre-Mexico
Published: May 28, 2022Feyenoord striker Cyriel Dessers is available for selection later today when the Super Eagles trade tackles with Mexico at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Dessers reported for international duty on Friday afternoon local time and was involved in the team's final workout before they take to the pitch against the Concacaf powerhouse.
Despite his late arrival, manager Jose Peseiro is unlikely to overlook Dessers for Saturday's prestige friendly given the striker's form in the recently concluded season.
In addition, the Portuguese has his options limited in attack with the withdrawals of Ahmed Musa, Sadiq Umar and Emmanuel Dennis and the unavailbaility of Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho and Odion Ighalo.
Update! Cyril Dessers is here. 20 players now in camp. Adeyinka, Olorunleke, Buhari, Madu, Rafiu, Mbaoma, Sanni, Bello, Aina, Ajayi, Ekong, Simon, Iwobi, Bassey, Aribo, Moffi, Bonke, Awaziem, Uzoho, Dessers. #MEXNGA #SoarSuperEagles pic.twitter.com/XrA2K6YdPe

On Wednesday night in Albania, the 27-year-old Dessers etched his name into the history books by becoming the first Nigerian player to win the top scorer prize of a European competition, including the Europa League and Champions League.
The Europa Conference League top scorer with ten goals is aiming to earn his second international cap in the United States, either against Mexico or Ecuador.
His first and only appearance to date for the three-time African champions was against Tunisia in a friendly staged in Austria 592 days ago.
