Five things we noticed from Super Eagles 2-1 loss to Mexico

Allnigeriasoccer.com's Izuchukwu Michael here presents the five things noticed in the 2-1 defeat of the Super Eagles against Mexico in an international friendly.

1. Peseiro's Trust For The Home Based?

It may be too early and soon to heap the plaudits on new Super Eagles head coach but his decision to play home based lad, Faisal in such an high octane game was brave. Ishaq Rafiu, Victor Mbaoma, Chiamaka Madu also tasted action.

2. Defensive Shape Must Be Worked Upon

William Troost-Ekong conceded an own goal but it could have been avoided with a better defensive approach. The captain's body shape was terribly wrong.

The best of defenders concede own goals but there's a better way to get the ball out of the dangerous zone.

The Watford man got it wrong and shinned the ball inside his own post.

3. Dessers For Regular Run

Interim coach at the AFCON Augustine Eguavoen stated that he didn't know Feyenoord striker Cyriel Dessers.

Eguavoen must now be verily aware of the Belgium-born striker. Dessers proved that he can ne a consistent member of the team.

4. Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi Nail LB Roles, Collins On The Edge

The introduction of Rangers' Calvin Bassey into the Super Eagles fold is one that could spell the end of the national team for new Cardiff City left-back Jamilu Collins at least on regular basis.

The battle now is between Bassey and Porto's Zaidu Sanusi for the first choice role in the Super Eagles.

5. Uzoho Clears Doubt,, Okoye Do Same

There had been insinuations that goalkeeper Francis Uzoho had called time on his international career following the goal he conceded in the World Cup playoff game against Ghana.

That was courageous of Uzoho and now Maduka Okoye, who had been a regular in the team as first choice, needs to do same after the backlash he received after Tunisia's goal at the AFCON.

Okoye was initially named for the friendlies but pulled out due to an ongoing shoulder issue that has been troubling him since November.
