MD, Checkers Africa Limited says Super Eagles will be formidable under Peseiro
Published: June 18, 2022Three-time African champions Nigeria will rekindle old glory under new head coach Jose Peseiro according to a big fan of the Portuguese.
Karan Checker is the Managing Director of Checkers Africa Limited, manufactures of the popular Checkers Custard Powder which comes in different variants.
In an interview with All Nigeria Soccer in Lagos, the football enthusiast says he was impressed by the performance of the team in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Sierra Leone and São Tome and Principe.
"Nigeria is blessed with great players and I have no doubt that they will be even better under the new coach Jose Peseiro.
"Despite the administrative issues that has characterized the game, the country has continued to produce great football players.
"At Checkers Africa Limited we organise a novelty football competition which incidentally has seen some players distinguish themselves so what seemed like fun could turn out to be a Scouting programme," the Checkers founder told All Nigeria Soccer.
"We hold the Checkers Challenge Cup and it's in the second edition. It's an opportunity for the staff to unwind but we also endeavour to bring the media because this is a project that could produce talents," Karan noted.
In the game played in Surulere, Team Ikorodu defeated Team Mushin 4-2 with the sum of N20, 000 and a trophy presented to the winning team.
"As you can see, we have great prospects here. Hopefully aside our food business, football will also be one of the areas we intend to impact Nigerians," the entrepreneur concluded.
