Ex-Napoli star reveals his ideal player to replace Osimhen amid striker's transfer links
Published: July 07, 2022Speculation linking Nigeria international Victor Osimhen with a departure from Napoli has refused to go away.
English Premier League, Bundesliga, Spanish and even Italian clubs have been credited with an interest in the 2015 U17 World Cup winner but the asking price for the 23-year-old has proved to be a stumbling block.
Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis will entertain offers in excess of 100 million euros for the Super Eagles star.
Former Napoli attacker Claudio Bellucci would like the Blues to make a move for his compatriot, Sassuolo's Italy international Gianluca Scamacca, in case Osimhen departs the Diego Maradona Stadium before the close of the transfer window.
"Who would I replace him with? I'm a patriot , so I say Scamacca . He scored many goals with Sassuolo that, with all due respect, he is not a top club," Bellucci said in an interview with 1 Station Radio via Area Napoli.
"He could play the Champions League at Napoli and would be forced to play to play every game to win.
"For me it is a great investment, it is already worth a lot today, after a season in Campania who knows what it could be worth ".
Osimhen has three years left on his contract with Napoli, whom he joined from Lille for a transfer fee in the region of 70 million euros, making him the club's record acquisition.
The former Wolfsburg starlet has mustered 28 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions for Napoli.
