Balogun scores fifth league goal of the season as Reims and Lens share spoils
Published: September 04, 2022
Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun continued his hot streak in front of goal as he scored in Stade de Reims' draw with Lens.
Reims played out a 1-1 draw with Lens in a French Ligue 1 UberEats encounter at the Stade Auguste Delaune on Sunday.
The visiting team had most of the possession in the first half but were unable to break a formidable Reims defense line.
At halftime, there was nothing to separate both sides as it ended 0-0.
The second half resumed with the home side trying to contain their visitors.
Against the run of play, Balogun broke the deadlock. The Arsenal-owned striker dispatched the ball with aplomb after a delightful pass in behind the defence from Kamory Doumbia in the 71st minute.
Eleven minutes later, Lens were back on level terms. Loïs Openda and Sotoca combined to restore parity and preserve the club's unbeaten run.
Flo, as he's fondly called at the Hale End Academy, now has five goals in six league appearances this season.
Stade de Reims have six points and are in 13th place after six games in the division.
