'They have physicality' - Italy great Bergomi compares Osimhen and on-loan Chelsea striker Lukaku
Published: January 03, 2023Speaking ahead of the Serie A meeting between Inter Milan and Napoli at the San Siro, Italy great Giuseppe Bergomi highlighted the qualities that Victor Osimhen and Romelu Lukaku bring to their teams, saying that the two strikers offer physicality and give depth.
Osimhen is having a banner season at Napoli, with nine goals in eleven league matches - a tally that sees him top the Serie A scoring charts.
On the other hand, Lukaku has not found the net for Inter Milan in the division since their opening day win at Lecce.
The Belgium international has been plagued by fitness issues this term, limiting his appearances to just five from a possible twenty one in all competitions.
Osimhen slightly has the edge over the on-loan Chelsea striker as he is good physical condition and showed he has not lost his goalscoring touch with two brilliant strikes against Crystal Palace and Villarreal in mid-season friendlies.
"Osimhen and Lukaku? They are two giants who have physicality and give depth: Osimhen is in the lead who has scored a lot and scored very crucial goals like in Rome and in Bergamo with Atalanta: he is perfect for Spalletti's Napoli, " Bergomi, who won the 1982 World Cup, told Il Mattino, via gonfialarete.
"Lukaku, on the other hand, has been out for a long time. Surely they are two of the most awaited protagonists of Inter and Napoli and who can shift the balance."
After fifteen games in the Italian topflight, Napoli lead the way with 41 points accumulated, eleven more than fifth-placed Inter Milan.
