Published: January 15, 2023Ademola Lookman proved why he is one of the top marksmen in the Italian Serie A with a brace and an assist for Atalanta in their club record 8-2 win over Salernitana at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo on Sunday evening.
After Boulaye Dia scored to cancel out Jérémie Boga's early opener, Lookman restored the Nerazzurri lead when he converted a spot kick in the 20th minute despite the goalkeeper's best efforts to keep the ball out.
Atalanta put the game to bed at halftime as they were leading 5-1 courtesy of goals from Giorgio Scalvini, Teun Koopmeiners and Rasmus Højlund.
Things got worse and worse for Salernitana as Lookman slammed home a shot from the edge of the penalty area to make it 6-1.in the 54th minute, but Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, with his first Serie A, scored to reduce the deficit two minutes later.
