2020 Super Eagles invitee opens goal account for Udinese after logging 519 minutes
Published: January 22, 20232020 Super Eagles invitee Kingsley Ehizibue scored the game-winning goal as Udinese earned a hard-fought 1-0 road win over Sampdoria on Sunday afternoon.
It was also the wingback's first goal for the Bianconeri and also his first in the Italian Serie A following his summer move from Bundesliga outfit Cologne.
In what was his third start in the league for Udinese, Ehizibue pounced on a loose header and finished expertly with the outside of his foot to hand Udinese all three points.
The 27-year-old totaled 519 minutes on the pitch comprising 65 in the Coppa Italia and 454 in the Italian topflight before opening his goal account for the Udine outfit.
Commenting on his goal, Ehizibue told Udinese's official website : "I am very happy with my goal and especially with the team's victory. Ten games without a win was difficult – we came back well after the training camp.
"My next objective? I aim to play as many games as possible and be important for the team, both in defence and attack."
Two other players of Nigerian descent were also on parade for Udinese at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, namely Watford old boy Isaac Success and Tottenham Hotspur loanee Destiny Udogie, while ex-Derby County starlet Festy Ebosele was a non playing substitute.
Ehizibue received a call-up for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone in March 2020 which were later postponed owing to the coronavirus crisis.
