Super Eagles winger in contention to make Nantes comeback against Juventus
Published: February 15, 2023Moses Simon has seemingly passed a fitness test ahead of Nantes' Europa League knockout round playoff first leg match against Juventus in Turin.
Coach of Nantes, Antoine Kombouaré has decided to select the Super Eagles winger in a 20-man squad for the trip to Italy.
Kombouaré could not count on the services of Simon in three consecutive matches played by his team as he was recovering from a thigh injury, which saw him miss games against AC Ajaccio and Lorient in the Ligue 1, plus Angers SCO in the Coupe de France.
Although it is all but confirmed that the Nigerian will be in the matchday squad, it remains to be seen whether or not he will be named in the starting lineup.
Simon started four of the six matches played by Nantes in the Europa League group stage and would be making his 28th appearance in European competition if he takes to the pitch against Juventus.
The former KAA Gent and AS Trencin star has never faced Italian opposition in his previous matches in Europe.
Nantes reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Cup in the 1985-1986 and 1994-1995 seasons.
