Giordano insists Osimhen is on same level as Man Utd legend in terms of aerial ability
Published: March 03, 2023Speaking ahead of Napoli's Serie A meeting with Lazio at the Diego Maradona Stadium, Bruno Giordano, who has a foot in both camps, has insisted that Victor Osimhen is on the same level as Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of aerial ability.
The former Napoli and Lazio striker praised Osimhen for his aerial ability as he spoke on the individual qualities of the Nigeria international and 2020 European champion Ciro Immobile.
Last month, the Super Eagles striker broke a record previously held by Portugal legend Ronaldo when he was playing for Juventus.
Osimhen recorded the highest jump in the Serie A, leaping 2.58m while scoring in the 68th minute of Napoli's 3-0 win against Spezia on February 5, beating Ronaldo's previous mark of 2.56m which he set against Sampdoria in 2019.
The Nigerian has showcased his superiority in the air since his transfer to Napoli, with fourteen of his goals coming from headers.
"Two great strikers Osimhen and Immobile , Osimhen is blossoming now, the other has shown it over time," Giordano said on Il Mattino, via Sport Today.
"Victor is experiencing a period of great splendor, Ciro has had some physical problems but both of them can make you win the game by inventing a decisive play.
"The Napoli striker plays in a team that creates many chances but the Lazio team also has teammates who can put him in the best conditions to score."
He added : "Osimhen is second to none in the world in headers: only Cristiano Ronaldo is on the same level.
"Immobile is a little colder in front of goal, this is also due to his age, experience and long apprenticeship."
Tonight, Osimhen is aiming to emulate former Juventus striker David Trézéguet by scoring in nine consecutive matches in the Italian Serie A.
